On Kashmir Solidarity Day, the government of Pakistan has declared a public holiday on February 5. A minute’s silence will be observed across the country at 10 am to express solidarity. February 5 will be observed as an expression of solidarity with Kashmiri martyrs.
Cabinet Division issued notification. For the first time in 1990, Qazi Hussain Ahmed requested to celebrate Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 at the request of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. It was approved by the then Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. is the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are demanding their self-determination. This has also been recognized in the United Nations Charter.
Pakistan stands united in showing solidarity with the brave people of Indian-occupied Kashmir on Kashmir Solidarity Day. Pakistan is committed to supporting the Kashmiri people politically, morally, and diplomatically while highlighting the significance of justice and their goals. People in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) and throughout Pakistan observe Kashmir Day Day. People celebrate this globally known day, most of whom are from Kashmir. Public processions, special prayers for Kashmir’s liberation in mosques, and demonstrations against Indian domination of Kashmir are held on this day.
Significant political and religious parties in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir also place a lot of importance on Kashmir Day. Numerous political and religious groups arrange processions, rallies, conferences, and seminars where public officials, opinion leaders, politicians, and leaders of religious organizations address the crowds in favor of the Kashmiri liberation cause. These spokespersons and leaders support a diplomatic solution to the Kashmir dispute as well.
Enthusiastic individuals join hands in demonstrations, backed by political parties, religious organizations, and various groups. Together, they passionately chant slogans in support of the Kashmiri liberation movement, expressing unwavering solidarity for the resilient Kashmiri people.
The construction of a human chain along all main roadways leading from Pakistan to Azad Kashmir is another frequently observed sight. At all of the main entry points into Azad Kashmir from Pakistan, people form a human chain by standing in rows with their hands clasped. To reassure Kashmiris that they are not alone in their fight for freedom, this represents solidarity and unity.
To further promote Kashmiri culture and tradition, festivals and other cultural events are organized. Talk shows, dramas, music, and special programs addressing the oppression and brutalities that Kashmiris have endured throughout the years are broadcast on news and entertainment channels. Educational institutions host forums and debate tournaments where students can share and present their opinions and suggestions for resolving issues about Kashmir.
